To the beloved, seeking deeper understanding in the Lord, Grace unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ. In your quest for insight into my words in the letter to 2 Corinthians, chapter 11, verses 2 through 10, let me illuminate the heart of these verses for you. "For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ." Here, my dear brethren, I express a deep concern for your spiritual well-being, akin to the protective care of a father. I fear lest your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. "But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ." Just as Eve was deceived by the serpent's cunning, there is a danger that you might be led astray from your pure and undivided devotion to Christ. "For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him." I warn against those who preach a different Jesus, or a different spirit, or a different gospel from the one we delivered unto you. "I suppose I was not a whit behind the very chiefest apostles." In defending my apostleship, I assert that in no way am I inferior to the most eminent apostles, though I am nothing. "But though I be rude in speech, yet not in knowledge; but we have been thoroughly made manifest among you in all things." My manner of speaking may be plain, but not my knowledge of God's mysteries, which has been fully demonstrated among you. "Have I committed an offence in abasing myself that ye might be exalted, because I have preached to you the gospel of God freely?" My choice to not be a financial burden to you was to uplift you, not to diminish my apostolic authority. "I robbed other churches, taking wages of them, to do you service." I accepted support from other churches to serve you without charge, not to burden you. "And when I was present with you, and wanted, I was chargeable to no man." Even in my own need, I did not become a financial burden to any of you. "For that which I lack the brethren which came from Macedonia supplied." The brethren from Macedonia supplied what I needed, keeping me from being a burden to you. "And in all things I have kept myself from being burdensome unto you, and so will I keep myself." My commitment to not be a financial burden to you remains steadfast. This portion of my letter, dear brethren, is to affirm my genuine care for you and my commitment to the truth of the Gospel. It is a call to discernment, to hold fast to the true Gospel of Christ, and to recognize the sincerity of those who serve in His name. May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
